For over 36 years Robert and his associates at Auriel Enterprises, LLC have been designing, installing and servicing electronic systems. Emphasizing lighting design and execution, Auriel has the knowledge and experience to create an exquisitely comfortable and luxurious environment in your home by combining architectural and decorative lighting fixtures that highlight the special parts of your home with discrete and easy to operate music and video systems.
Next to your heating and cooling system, no system is utilized more in your home than lighting. The bulk of the time we spend in our homes is after dark, so it makes sense to put some effort in it. Most lighting is specified by the building designer or Architect and is, quite frankly, the last thing they do when putting together your plans. “Four cans and a ceiling fan” is the most common layout and for a larger room they simply put more cans. Robert has been designing residential lighting for over 20 years and fully understands that lighting is more than just blowing a lot of light into a box, or hanging a pretty fixture from the ceiling. Good design takes into account architectural feature of the home, use patterns, artwork, and even areas that should be de-emphasized. Good design layers light into a room and utilizes lighting control systems to make those layers simple to access.
The change from incandescent to LED has opened many opportunities to design lighting coverage into areas we never could before. It has also made things very confusing. The LED lighting industry is still in the early stages of innovation and there are many confusing terms and performance characteristics that make it nearly impossible for a layman to select the correct light for an application. We know the specifications that matter, we know the manufacturers who do a good job and stand behind their products, and most importantly we look for products that out perform their cost so you don’t overspend for the result you are desiring.
The design and implementation documentation we create makes the execution/installation of the design an easier process. We generally manage the electricians on our design project taking the pressure off of your builder and giving the electrician a resource that can essentially hold his hand through rough-in and trim. We have personally installed most of the fixtures and all of the control systems we specify and take a hands-on approach to making sure that “Sparky” can do his job with as few mistakes as possible.
Our work has been published in dozens of magazines and we have eight national Best Home Theater awards under our belt. We even had a room featured in a calendar! We have created high performance listening rooms, media rooms, home theaters and outdoor entertainment venues. In the late 80’s we even installed a music system for four city blocks in downtown Colorado Springs to play Christmas music.
Our emphasis with entertainment is accessibility. We want it simple and easy for you to access your content. The good news is that simple systems are generally more reliable as well. As mentioned in our section on Lighting, we look for products that outperform their cost and are proud to create some of the best sounding systems in the region.
Systems like HVAC, entertainment, lighting, security and surveillance can be integrated together to make them either A) easier to operate or B) provide enhanced functionality that the systems cannot provide by themselves. A few years ago we used to integrate everything, whether it fit one of those two criteria or not. Often we did it because there was no user interface for a particular system without an automation system which did satisfy A). Other times it was simply because, well it was what we did.
Today we look closely at the need for automation and integration and use it more sparingly. The reality of automation and integration is that when you tie together many systems that were not designed to work together you also open the door for the need to maintain the system. The software for devices change over time, updates are often pushed to the devices without the consumer being aware that it happened. One day something works, the next it doesn’t and a service call has to be made to get it working again. Automation and integration absolutely has its place, but it does have to be used as a tool in the tool box, not the one size fits all tool it has become over the last 20 years.
Over the course of 36 years, if you apply yourself and God is gracious to you, you become good at a lot of things.
Home networking is a critical part of the infrastructure of your home. A good network is as important today as phone lines that didn’t buzz in the 80’s and 90’s. Your internet providers modem/router/WiFi by itself is not good enough.
Surveillance (camera) systems to keep track of what is happening around your home are pretty common. There are lots of consumer grade options like Ring that work very well, but require exposed outlets or rechargeable batteries. If you want an experience that isn’t ugly or requires ongoing maintenance we have solutions for you.
Motorized window coverings work in conjunction with lighting control systems to put you in charge of the appearance of your home.
Blower Door Testing – yeah, this is an odd one, but bear with us. Our sister company, Auriel Building Company, is a high performance home builder and as such requires performance testing of the building envelope. To support them we have acquired the equipment and certification to perform envelope and duct testing on new and existing homes. Home health management items like indoor air quality and water quality are an emerging technological market and one that blends perfectly with the quality of life improvements that good lighting brings to your home. If your builder isn’t talking to you about air changes per hour and what they mean to your home talk with us about it and we can educate you on why it matters.
As you’ve read, we have been at this a long time. Over the course of 36 years we have acquired many industry and factory certifications. We believe these add to our resume, and we are asking you to trust us with your home so we have listed some of our more relevant certifications below.
-BPI Energy Auditor
-BPI Building Analyst Professional
-BPI Building Analyst Technician
-BPI Infiltration & Duct Leakage
-CEDIA Certified Electronic Systems Designer
-CEDIA Certified Electronics Systems Technician
-CEDIA Education Content Developer and Instructor
-Lutron Homeworks and RadioRA2

We believe the human/company you hire to work on your home is much more important than the actual product that they install. Products are just tools to make something work. One surround sound receiver, within reason, is as good as the next for example. But we also realize that having a list of brands on our website lends credibility to our efforts so, for those of you who care about this sort of thing, here you are:
-Vantage Lighting
-Legrand Shading Systems
-Triad Speakers
-Sony Televisions
-Sonos Music Systems
-Araknis Networks
-Episode Speakers
-DSC Security Systems
-Proluxe Lighting
Through trusted partnerships we are also able to access products to create and support systems that include:
-Lutron Lighting Systems
-Control4
-Savant
-ELAN/Nice
-Hunter Douglas
